Red Ribbon Week

We are celebrating Red Ribbon Week once again at OCS.  The Red Ribbon Committee has come up with some theme days for our students and staff to participate in during the week. The week will begin on October 23rd and run through October 30th.  We hope everyone participates in the theme days, and learns an important message about the importance of being drug free!

Fall Has Arrived

With the Fall weather settling in, students are reminded that whenever possible PE classes will be held outside. The sun does not hit the black top area until after 9 AM and the field typically does not dry form the morning dew until 10:30 AM. Students need to be prepared to participate for all PE classes.

Some quick reminders:

  • Extra or old sneakers to use if field is wet
  • Dry socks to change into after PE class
  • Sweatshirt
  • Deodorant (Stick or Roll on type, NO ARESOLES)

Noise Induced Hearing Loss

Our 5th-8th grade students will have the opportunity to participate in a research study to investigate the knowledge and attitudes regarding noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) among adolescences.  This is a great opportunity to help gather data on a growing area of concern. All parents/guardians of our 5th-8th grade students have been emailed a letter describing the study and directions on how to sign-up to be part of the study.  Thanks for considering to help with this research study!
